Day 2 of the new quarantine rules – what does this mean for you?

We have tried to summarise the new guidance below for your convenience and provided links to the relevant sites. From the 15th Feb 2021 the government have introduced new quarantine rules for travelers into the UK. You will have to quarantine for 10 days, whether this is at home or in a hotel will depend on where you are travelling from.

Before you travel to England, all passengers must book and pay (£210) for a travel test package (to be taken on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 of your quarantine) and have completed a passenger locator form.

If you are traveling from one of the 33 red list countries (Coronavirus (COVID-19): red list travel ban countries - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) then you will need

to isolate in a government quarantine hotel at your own expense for 10 days. The test to release scheme does not apply to you.

If you are travelling from a non-red list country, you must complete 10 days of quarantine in your home under lockdown rules but you must still take your tests on day 2 and day 8 via the travel test package. You will be able to access the test to release scheme once you have completed 5 full days of isolation. You may take a COVID PCR test at a government approved facility such as NL Clinic. If you are negative, then you may end your quarantine. If you are positive, then you must complete 10 full days of isolation from the date of your test.

There are of course exceptions to some of these rules depending on your job. Please see here for further details as this gets complicated.
